When I first heard her track Bucky Done Gun in grade 10, I knew she was special because it wasn't like anything I'd ever heard before. This documentary is about the inhumanities in Sri Lanka, and how M.I.A. spent 11 years there with her family and returned when she was 21. "I came to music as a medium but the need to express myself existed before," She says. I cried through the first half of this movie. Her father was a freedom fighter and she is one of the most iconic artists of our time. 💿
